01 Why you should protect your hob

Prevent glass breakage

 especially recommended for tall cabinets

Although new glass ceramic hobs are considered to be extremely durable, it can easily happen that a drinking glass or cooking pot falls out of your hand. If the corner hits the glass surface, the hob will quickly crack. Even small cracks can widen over time and eventually extend across the entire hob. Liquid penetrating can then become a serious problem. Replacing the hob is often unavoidable. It is also not always clear whether your own insurance will cover this, if you have taken out one at all. In any case, it is annoying and, above all, avoidable.

By the way,... wall cabinets above or just next to the hob can be the number one source of danger. Hob covers are an effective and simple solution. Completely covered, they literally create a protective shield for the hob.

Area for parking

no scratches and no dirt on the glass surface

Who doesn't know the problem? There is never enough space in the kitchen. Especially when cooking "large-scale", your own kitchen often reaches its limits. If the hob is not being used at the moment or is only being used partially, a cover is an ideal additional storage option without scratching the hob.

Thanks to the cover, guests can no longer make any mistakes and can place their dishes directly on the new (not exactly cheap) induction hob. Wincing is a thing of the past thanks to a cover.

This turns the hob, which would otherwise be left free, into an ideal storage area and thus an extension of the kitchen unit.

02 Wooden hob cover

Advantage wood

 naturally warm and cozy ambience

Ceramic hob covers are available in different materials. Plastic or glass is the most common form, along with wood. Why Wood (for us 🙂 ), clear winner compared to plastic We have discussed this in a separate article. In short, the antibacterial properties of wood are a particularly striking advantage. Compared to glass, the most important properties are its robust and tough properties. The glass cover can also break if something falls on it. It is also less suitable as a cutting board, as knives become blunt on the extremely hard surface, rendering the blade unusable.

Wood itself also has a very warm and homely character and, as a storage surface, has a more sound-dampening effect than other materials.

It also makes an eye-catcher in otherwise simpler kitchens.

Which wood

it doesn't always have to be oak

As soon as the decision has been made that a wooden cover is to be used, the next question arises: WHICH WOOD? The main thing is how it is to be used. If the only function is to look good and protect the hob, softer types of wood can also be used without any problems, such as: larch, cherry and the walnut If, however, the cover is to be worked on properly, harder types of wood are recommended. oak, beech or the maple very good. Due to its increased antibacterial properties, lower shrinkage and water tolerance, oak wood is usually the first choice.

It becomes really classy with a Cover made of end grain woodUnique appearance, excellent cutting properties and a robust appearance make the end grain variant stand out among all wood variants.

In addition to 8 types of wood, Holz-Liebling customers can choose between one-piece and two-part cover , as well as an optional juice groove.

03 Cover and cutting board in one

Always at hand

the cutting board is always in its place

We have already discussed the fact that wooden hob covers can also be used wonderfully as cutting boards. A clear advantage and an absolute “must have” for all those with little space in the kitchen. Especially in the two-part variant This means you can cook on one side of the hob and work on the other (cut food). The cutting board is always in its place, ready to hand, and it still looks good. Function and appearance have rarely harmonized so well.

However, one should say goodbye to the idea that using it as Cutting board can be used without leaving any residue. Over time, slight "riffles" will become visible. We therefore deliberately manufacture Holz-Liebling covers from 26mm thick solid wood. After intensive use and a considerable amount of time, the cover can be easily sanded down using sandpaper/a sander. A removal of 0.5mm should be completely sufficient for this. This means that buying a wooden cover is not only sustainable, but for eternity :-).

Even more space

additional storage space on the kitchen unit

This point has already been used once or twice. A cover for the induction hob expands the possible work surface in the kitchen according to the size of the cover. All dimensions are available to cover even the largest hobs. It does not matter whether it is a Miele, Bora, AEG, Bosch or Siemens hob. In addition to 7 widths of the one-piece and two-piece version, we also offer 4 depths for our covers. This means that we have 36 size variants for each type of wood and therefore cover all dimensions of hobs available on the market. If you still want a special size, we are happy to implement this.

So expand your work surface with a great kitchen companion. Cutting board including storage space, high-quality workmanship and made of first-class material.
